History

The property on which the park district is now situated was originally farmland called Locust Hill Farm. In the early ‘60s, a developer called Casa Grande bought the land and sub-divided it into about 470 parcels. The company created the lake by daming a local stream. But when Casa Grande handed out deeds to the new homeowners, there were no formal requirements to contribute to the care of the lake and surrounding area. The first residents eventually came together in the early 1970s and formed a homeowners association. By the end of the ‘70s there were only 20 people paying the dues, therefore the people owed $19,000 in taxes in 1980. Nobody paid anything toward supporting the bills; there were no requirements in the deed.
In 1984, Casse Lake officially became a park district. An advisory board was formed, which decided how much money would be needed and how it should be spent. The new board did not want to spend any money, making it very difficult to get anything done. Soon the clubhouse and the beach began to fall into ruins. This did not change until about 2013, when a new group of board members decided to revamp the park.

The new board members renovated both the clubhouse and the beach. The board now sends out regular newsletters with what's going on in the neighborhood. The clubhouse and beach are available to all Lake Casse homeowners. The neighborhood is very friendly and is a great place for kids. The location is also very convenient. There is an updated shopping center located less than five minutes from the Lake Casse park.
